Gambit Esports have been around in the Dota 2 world since 2017, but now the team have rebranded after a partnership with the football club AS Monaco.

Since PSG entered Dota 2, having a partnership with the Chinese team LGD, we have seen the culmination of many football and esports teams. While PSG.LGD’s partnership is definitely the biggest and most famous in Dota 2, another professional team has now entered a partnership with a football club as Gambit Esports joins forces with AS Monaco, rebranding their team. The team, keeping the same roster, will play under the name AS Monaco Gambit or ASM.GMB for short, as they go in search of Major appearances and possibly a spot at The International.

Irina Semenova, Head of Esports at MTS, had the following to say on the partnership between the two,

We are the first Russian esports club to strike a partnership with a foreign football club. Gambit Esports brand has been known abroad for some time now and we believe tha this partnership will broaden our fan base all over the world and will allow us to offer new unique experiences to fans of esports and football.”

On the side of AS Monaco, the clubs General Manager, Oleg Petrov, had a few words to say too,

Creation of AS Monaco Gambit will allow us to make a new step in a rapidly growing market by joining forces with a strong player at the international esports arena. This union is beneficial from two points of view: allowing us to diversify our activities by addressing a different audience, young and very connected, while accompanying the club’s internalization strategy by developing our presence in key territories.”

ASM.GMB are currently competing in the CIS Dota Pro Circuit League Season 1 lower division, where they currently sit in fourth place, with a series against B8 later this week. The team have a few weeks left to show off their new partnership and maybe make it into the top 2 spots to secure a path into the upper division for season 2.
