Although tournaments have been fairly abundant with the lack of the Dota 2 Pro Circuit, North America has almost been eclipsed by Europe, CIS, China and Southeast Asian events – which almost entirely explains Clinton “Fear” Loomis’ decision to take a break from competitive Dota 2.

With Valve having now communicated with the Dota 2 community that they only expect the DPC to be back up and running in early 2021, it was likely that we would see a few players taking a break for the remainder of the year – especially those who are not showing the best of results. The North American Dota 2 scene has still been seeing online events such as OMEGA League, Beyond the Summit Pro Series and ESL One Los Angeles, Birmingham, and Thailand, but for business associates, most of these have ended without any big results. While they recently did finish in first place at OMEGA League: Americas Ancient Division, this has not stopped well-known player, Clinton “Fear” Loomis from announcing a short break from competitive Dota 2.

As of yesterday, when the Tweet went out, the business associates’ team are no more as Fear confirms that three of the players will be playing under a new name – possibly until the DPC starts up again and he returns. After Leon “Nine” Kirilin announced that he would be taking a break back in April, Joel “moOz” Mori Ozambela also left the squad then to pursue a coaching role alongside beastcoast. This led on to Jimmy “DeMoN” Ho departing as the team’s coach a month later and from what we’ve seen recently, ba have been playing with both Jacky “EternalEnvy” Mao and Jingjun “Sneyking” Wu as temporary stand-ins for a number of events.

That said, it is unclear from Fear’s Tweet which three players will be moving forward together but there is a chance that it will be the two stand-ins mentioned above as well as either Braxton “Brax” Paulson or David “Moo” Hull.

For now, at least, the business associates team will be no more and we could maybe see them come back whenever the Dota 2 Pro Circuit returns – which could only be in January or February of 2021. We will keep you up to date on any news that comes out from these players in the next few days.
