GameSquare partners with Mastercard to create custom Fortnite experience

GameSquare, a leading esports and gaming company from North America, has joined forces with Mastercard, a renowned financial services company, to create an immersive Fortnite experience that aims to raise awareness about deforestation.

Through the innovative Moonlight Studios developed by GameSquare, they have introduced a groundbreaking Fortnite world called “Restore the Forest Speedrun.” This unique gaming environment challenges players to compete against each other while simultaneously planting trees and vegetation as they navigate through the exciting levels. By combining entertainment with a meaningful cause, GameSquare and Mastercard are pioneering a new approach to engage players in environmental conservation efforts.

The partnership is part of Mastercard’s Priceless Planet Coalition

To raise awareness for the game, Twitch streamers Masayoshi, Maya, and ImDontai will bring attention to the cause among their fans.

This collaboration is part of Mastercard’s Priceless Planet Coalition, an initiative aimed at restoring 100 million trees in areas that have the most significant impact on climate, biodiversity, and communities. In addition to GameSquare, the company has partnered with Lyft, SiriusXM, and American artist SZA for its GRAMMY Awards campaign.

Established in 2011, GameSquare is one of the largest gaming and esports companies in North America. Earlier this year, they launched Moonlight Studios, a new venture focused on creating immersive experiences within metaverse-like games. GameSquare has also made other notable moves, such as appointing Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins as its Chief Innovation Officer in February 2023, leading to the establishment of Ninja Labs.

GameSquare is also the parent company of Complexity

GameSquare serves as the parent company of Complexity and operates a creator network that empowers content creators and influencers by providing them with valuable marketing opportunities. Additionally, GameSquare has plans to acquire the renowned North American organization FaZe Clan, although the completion of this acquisition is still pending.

Among the various companies venturing into the metaverse space, GameSquare stands out. In December 2023, Gen.G expanded its partnership with Crocs to create exciting new Fortnite worlds that showcase the popular footwear brand.

Rustom Dastoor, the Executive Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Mastercard North America, shared his thoughts on the matter, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in creating significant impact for the planet.

“Our approach combines passion and purpose, bringing people together through a significant cultural event to foster collaborative action for the betterment of our planet.”
