When does the Rocket League Championship Series 2024 start?

Get ready for an action-packed 2024 season of the Rocket League Championship Series, as Blast steps in as the new tournament operator, bringing a fresh wave of updates. The schedule and format have undergone exciting adjustments, including a reduction in the number of Majors from three to two.

Noteworthy changes include the Middle East and North America (MENA) receiving an extra slot at Majors, while sub-Saharan Africa secures a slot at both Majors and the RLCS World Championship. In a departure from the past, North America and Europe will have a fixed number of slots (four each) at Worlds, eliminating the opportunity to earn more slots based on performance.

RLCS 2024 Season Format

The upcoming 2024 RLCS Season is set to deliver three thrilling in-person tournaments: RLCS Major 1, RLCS Major 2, and the highly anticipated Rocket League World Championship. Qualification for each RLCS Major will involve a total of six online Open Qualifiers held throughout the year, with three tournaments taking place in each region. A standardized format will be implemented across all online Open Qualifiers to provide clarity and consistency for fans, whether they are new or seasoned followers.

The Open Qualifier format will consist of an initial Open Double Elimination bracket to determine the top 16 teams in each region. Following that, a 16-team Swiss System will be employed to identify the top 8 teams, and finally, an 8-team Single Elimination bracket will determine the standings within each region. At the conclusion of each Open Qualifier, RLCS Points will be awarded to the top teams. After the third Open Qualifier for each Major, the teams with the highest regional RLCS Points standings will earn the opportunity to compete internationally in the subsequent in-person Major.

The qualifying teams for each region will be as follows:

  • North America (NA): Top four (4) teams
  • Europe (EU): Top four (4) teams
  • Middle East & North Africa (MENA): Top two (2) teams
  • Oceania (OCE): Top two (2) teams
  • South America (SAM): Top two (2) teams
  • Asia-Pacific (APAC): Top (1) team
  • Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA): Top (1) team

The RLCS Major tournaments will adopt the same standardized format as the Open Qualifiers, but with higher stakes and additional RLCS Points available. The tournaments will feature a 16-team Swiss system to determine the top 8 teams, followed by an 8-team Single Elimination bracket to determine the ultimate RLCS Major Champion.

Following the conclusion of RLCS Major 2, the top teams from each region, based on their cumulative RLCS Points earned throughout the entire 2024 season, will be invited to participate in the Rocket League World Championship. This prestigious event will bring together the most accomplished teams from around the world, who will compete for the ultimate title of Rocket League World Champions.
