Riot Games has implemented the Riot ID in their products, the name which is shown in the game and viewable by other users.
In other words, Riot ID is the player’s nickname. However, it is not the same as your Riot account username.
Riot ID consists of two parts:
- name (nickname) – shown to players on the server;
- tag – is a special designation, consisting of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 characters. It is not shown to other players, but the information is required to be able to add a friend in Valorant. You can find it next to the name, after the hashtag sign “#”. After creating an account, it is assigned automatically.
You can change your Riot ID only once in 30 days.
In order to communicate with the support service if you have to solve any problems, you will also need your ID.
Where to get Riot ID in Valorant
Simply go over to the social menu on the right hand side, open it up and then hover over your name. The pop-up window will contain full information about the ID. When you go down into the bottom, click on add a friend and you will enter their Riot ID. After becoming friends, you could set each other game invites and also play with each other.
All Riot games such as Valorant, Legends of Runeterra, Wild Rift and Project A will require the same ID.
