RMR members are voicing concerns about computer problems caused by processors

Participants of the European CS2 RMR have voiced criticism towards the organizers due to computer issues. One of the main complaints revolves around the low FPS count, forcing players to lower their settings and change their screen resolution for the tournament. Specifically, Denis “seized” Kostin and Finn “karrigan” Andersen have highlighted this concern.

There are very bad PCs on this LAN

The PCs at this LAN event are very poor. Some players, including myself, had to adjust settings, resolution, and monitors. I don’t think I’m alone in this. It’s a shame that we’re playing the qualifiers for the first CS2 Major on weak PCs.

We have to play on 240Hz due to FPS

Furthermore, the computers sometimes can’t handle long hours of operation. One of the computers couldn’t stay on for more than 12 hours. Towards the end, we encountered issues. According to Robin “ropz” Kool, the problem lies with the processor. The computers are equipped with the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, which has 16 cores that aren’t being utilized properly due to CS2’s peculiarities.

The processor is not good enough for stable gaming

This processor isn’t good enough for stable gameplay at 360 FPS, even at 240 FPS. Let’s be honest, it’s three years old. The standards set by ESL and BLAST are much higher, so it’s expected to have complaints. From personal experience, I used this processor in my home PC before CS2 was released. It was clear that it wasn’t sufficient for playing at the highest level tournaments.

Another observation: I hope the tournament organizers are aware that processors with fewer cores are better suited for CS2. For example, the 14700K or 7800X3D. One of the issues with the 5950X is that the game doesn’t utilize its 16 cores properly.

After numerous complaints, HLTV reached out to PGL to inquire about the technical specifications of the computers. Representatives from the company stated that they have the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X processors and NVIDIA RTX 4080 16GB graphics cards. They are using Zowie XL2566K monitors with a refresh rate of 360Hz.
