Singapore legend hyhy and Dota 2 veteran Black^ signed by EMERGE Esports

The Singapore based esports talent agency EMERGE Esports was launched this past Monday with 40 esports personalities featured on the starting roster.

Singapore Dota 2 legend Benedict “hyhy” Lim, as well as the Dota 2 veteran Dominik “Black^” Reitmeier are among the ones headlining the EMERGE announcement. While Black^ fought over the past few years to keep his competitive career going and has briefly competed via Southeast Asia under the T1 banner, hyhy makes a return to the limelight after nearly three years of absence.

With a professional career dating back to DotA 1 days, hyhy stopped competing in 2017 after a year spent with White Fries Gaming, a team created by him and Gong “ZSMJ” Jian. While hyhy might not be a popular face for the newer generations of Dota 2 players, he is a true legend of the Singaporean and Southeast Asian scene in general. He placed third at the very first The International in 2011, and was featured in 2014 in Valve’s documentary Free to Play alongside Danil “Dendi” Ishutin and Clinton “Fear” Loomis. Once he stopped competing, hyhy stayed away from social media platforms as well. However, with him headlining EMERGE Esports announcement, he reactivated his Facebook page and has also created an Instagram account.

Besides hyhy and Black^, EMERGE have also announced to have signed professional Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) player Robert “Oh Deer Bambi” Boon, and cosplayer XIAOYUKIKO. The talent agency also manages Kingsmen, one of Singapore’s rising teams that currently competes in titles such as MLBB, Valorant, and PUBG Mobile.
