Hi-Rez Studios recently announced the start date for Season 5 of the SMITE Pro League (SPL). The latest season will begin on Tuesday, March 20th at 1:00pm EDT.

The first game will feature a rematch between NRG Esports and Team Rival. The two have a fierce history, most recently when Team Rival knocked out NRG out of the 2018 SMITE World Championship.

Season 5 will feature 12 organizations throughout the SMITE Pro League. Most recently with Mousesports and SK Gaming.

The SMITE Pro League has made big strides since Season 1 in 2014. Hi-Rez has definitely carried this momentum and are rewarding their players by offering a minimum salary of $30,000. The five starting players on each SPL team will make the aforementioned minimum salary while the teams will continue to split LAN winnings as the season progresses.

“Season 5 of Smite is shaping up to be the best one yet, with a brand new Conquest map, the addition of many new team orgs, a more stable league structure and guaranteed minimum salary for players,” said Todd Harris, COO of Hi-Rez Studios. “We also look forward to innovating on the production and broadcast all season long in cooperation with the Mixer platform.”

The SPL season will begin with six weeks of online matches. Teams will be aiming for an invitation to the SMITE Masters event in May, held at Hi-Rez Studios’ headquarters. The top two teams from North America and Europe will receive this opportunity.
