We had our first ever tournament grand final on the new patch as the OGA Dota PIT Season 4: Europe/CIS came to an end with OG and Natus Vincere fighting for the title.
Last night we had the latest update to Dota 2 come out, giving us a new hero and a multitude of new items, hero changes and reworks to a plethora of things too. We’ve seen a few series played on the new patch already across different events, but the first grand final would be at the OGA Dota PIT Season 4: EU/CIS. After Na’Vi played a fantastic lower bracket final to eliminate Team Nigma, they were left with a rematch of the upper bracket final against OG – this time with a lot more on the line.
We expected an epic series between these two amazing teams, both looking for their first event victory of 2020 outside of qualifier – and they delivered instantly as game one was a complete brawl. Although Phantom Assassin was one of the heroes which was heavily nerfed, it did not stop Na’Vi’s Alik “V-Tune” Vorobey from tearing through the OG lineup with ease – ending 18-0-15 and helping his team to take a solid victory.
Going into game two, OG just seemed to have not adapted to the new patch – especially since they had not played a series earlier today. It took only 23-minutes for Na’Vi to go up two games without contest as OG struggled to find their footing against their CIS opponent – picking up only nine kills over the game before they were forced into calling GG.
With their backs against the wall, OG looked to finally turn things around as they went into the third game of the series. In the early period, it seemed as though OG had managed to do this as they dived through the Dire base and picked up some vital kills – but that wasn’t the end of things at all. Na’Vi were meticulous in cutting down the OG pressure and as they did, they turned the game around completely, leaving OG in tatters as they battled to find a way back into the game.
Although OG did their best to fight back, it was nowhere near enough to contest as Na’Vi ripped through the Ancient and destroyed them in the grand finals. With that, it might be time to bring out the that age old saying of, “Na’Vi are back” as they win the OGA Dota PIT Season 4: EU/CIS tournament with a clean sweep over OG.
