PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUND has officially announced the plans for professional leagues in both North American and Europe. The National PUBG League or NPL will be rooted in North America while the PUBG Europe League or PEL will be based out of Europe.

These pro-level competitions will kick off in 2019 “and are the first major steps in our announced 5-year esports plan,” the announcement reads. Yes, they said a 5-year esports plan. They go on to say that these leagues are merely a part of an even larger global league that will start in January of 2019. The regions will feature local competition across a three-phase system. The phases will allow teams to win money and a spot at global events. The regions are allotted $1 million and €1 million respectively for Noth America and Europe.

The league will be first-person only and pin 16 teams on either Erangel or Miramar where they will competed to be the last team standing while raking up kills and earning the chicken dinner. The leagues will be ran in partnership with OGN and StarLadder with the former handling the NPL and latter working on the PEL. The league also states that “participating teams will have travel and housing subsidized.”

Teams can head to to register for a chance to compete in the inaugural PUBG Pro Leagues.

Hey Everyone,

Today we’re excited to to officially announce that professional leagues are coming to PUBG! The National PUBG League (NPL) in North America and the PUBG Europe League (PEL) in Europe are pro-level competitions for the 2019 season, and are the first major steps in our announced 5-year esports plan. These leagues will be part of a global league structure that begins in January, where teams will compete locally in a three-phase system to win prize money and qualify for global tournaments and championships. Teams in North America will compete for a regional annual prize pool of $1 million while European teams will have an annual prize pool of €1 million.

Matches played in these leagues will place 16 squads on Erangel and Miramar in first-person perspective only. OGN and StarLadder will be our partners for the NPL and PEL respectively and all participating teams will have travel and housing subsidized.

We’re excited to officially kick off the inaugural season this January and will be sharing more information about these leagues at a later date. PEL registrations are open now (NPL registrations coming soon), so if you think your squad has what it takes, head over to to register!
