We previously shared with you the teaser for League of Legends latest character, Pyke: The Bloodharbor Ripper. Today, Riot Games unveiled the whole champion including his kit and a brief bio.
Abandoned by his crew to the leviathans of the deep, Pyke drowned—but didn’t stay dead. Years later, a fabled revenant known as the Bloodharbor Ripper still stalks the Slaughter Docks, crossing names off a list that never seems to end. Wait…you look familiar…
Well, he’s here.
Let’s just call Pyke the literal polar-opposite of Janna. Janna seems nice and friendly, Pyke does not and he’s s revolutionizing the support game. No longer will you be able to complain that your support is unable to chip in during team fights (looking at you, Bronzies). Instead, you’ll probably be complaining that Pyke is KS’ing.
Pyke can kill steal, and you’ll get rewarded for it. Yep – you read that right. If he gets a kill with his ultimate, you’ll reap the benefits if you’re the primary assist. You’ll get full gold as if you were the one who actually killed the enemy. It’s glorious and annoying at the same time.
Riot wanted their latest support to be very different. In speaking to Newsweek, Ryan Mireles, Champion Product Manager said, “From the beginning, we wanted to create a support that had a class and play style that didn’t currently exist.” Well, mission accomplished. Mostly all of his abilities focus on damaging opponents or downright executing them. He has one ability that can camouflage him, but outside of that, the dialogue is really “murder, death, kill.”
