With the conclusion of the China’s LPL and Southeast Asia’s LST circuits, the full team list for Mid-Season Invitational 2019 is now known. 13 teams will head to Vietnam and Taiwan next month to determine the first international League of Legends champion for this year.

Depending on the prominence of the region, different representatives will start further ahead in the tournament. The minor regions like CIS, LJL and the hosts from VCS will start in the Play-in round 1. Up in the next tier are the LCS and LMS representatives. On the very top are the world’s three strongest regions: LPL, LEC and LCK.

Full list of teams is available below.

— G2 Esports (LEC, Europe)
— SK Telecom T1 (LCK, Korea)

Given how the 2019 Spring Splits in the various regions went, all eyes are on Invictus Gaming, SKT and G2 as the heavy favorites, with China/Korea grand final looking like the most logical outcome. All of these three teams 3-0’d their regional final in dominant fashion and left no room to speculate “what could have been” if Griffin, JD Gaming or Origen were standing here instead.

All three teams have powerful rosters as well. IG are fielding the same line-up that won Worlds 2018 last year, including world’s best top laner in Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok. SKT went through a massive reform following their 2018 slump and have assembled an LCK super team, led by Cho “Mata” Se-hyeong and Park “Teddy” Jin-seong in the bot lane and a resurging Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok. Finally, G2 snatched Europe’s best mid laner Rasmus “Caps” Winther from rivals Fnatic and cruised through the LEC as if it were butter.

Whether China, Korea and Europe will indeed fight for the top 3 spots or whether North America can mount some sort of aspect will be revealed when MSI begins less than 10 days from now, on May 1.
