Pyke: The Bloodharbor Ripper

If you don’t have some variation of the chills after watching that teaser, you probably need to re-watch it. Hell, even the still image is terrifying. There’s only one word to describe League of Legends latest champion and that word is “spooky“. Real spooky. League of Legends officially teased their newest champion, Pyke: The Bloodharbor Ripper.

Never Turn Your Back On The Sea

This shouldn’t be a surprise to League of Legends fans if you’ve been keeping track of their “Champion Roadmaps“. In April, Ryan “R3AVE” Mireles, the Lead Producer of Champions at Riot Games said, “Let’s reset a bit and wade right into the next champion we’re adding to the list. We felt it was time to execute on a new support with a darker, deeper thematic than most of our support cast.” Well, mission accomplished on that front. R3AVE also said, “We also wanted to create an aggressive playmaker, someone who doesn’t just save a drowning ally, but who forces their enemies to drown themselves… by their own hands.”

“Keep your health high, your eyes to the sea, and pray you aren’t on the list.”

We now know that Pyke is definitely a support character, but we haven’t seen one this dark or eerie in the history of League. As admitted by R3AVE, it seems like Pyke will be a playmaking support champ with the ability to deal damage. The line “[He] forces their enemies to drown themselves… by their own hands,” leads us to believe that perhaps we’ll see Pyke have abilities that feature a taunt plus a health drain (think combining Fiddlesticks’ drain + taunt into one).

“Pyke’s shipmates watched him drown. In his eyes, all of Bilgewater is guilty”

Pyke is angry, and you know what – I love it. It’s about time that the League of Legends lore adapted another “scary” champion. The last time a champion gave the community chills was back when  Warwick was reworked. He had that creepy video to go along with his reveal.

As of now there’s no official release date for Pyke so keep your eyes locked onto our Facebook and Twitter pages for more updates!
