The Tortuga People faction in Windrose is useful; you don’t need a mansion, but when you have some extra provisions and medicine lying around, it’s perfect. The bad news: the buyer doesn’t actually live in Tortuga. Ironic, right? But they do have a base—and it’s actually accessible. I’ll tell you how.

Where can I find a buyer for the Tortuga People in Windrose?

Tortuga base entrance arch

First, find the Tortuga People Main Base—it’s not Tortuga itself, but a separate location. Once you’re there, it’s simple: go under the arch opposite the main port, then turn sharply left. There’s a merchant at the bottom of the stairs. Sell to him.

Once you’ve visited, you can fast travel from there. The process can’t be simplified; everything is already clear.

What to sell to the Tortuga People: prices and resources?

  • Provisions → 50 piastres
  • Medicine → 100 piastres

The list is short, but it’s great for a start. Compactness is a good thing here.

How to find the People of Tortuga base quickly?

Method One

Method One is to sail at random. Maps in Windrose are procedurally generated, so each player’s base may be in a different location. But there is a pattern: it’s usually near Tortuga, in the waters of the Brotherhood of the Coast. For example, I found the base north of Tortuga. Is such a search pointless? No, it’s probably just luck.

Method Two

Method Two is more reliable. Complete the initial quest chains: “Glorious Hunters” and “Buccaneers.” Yes, it’s a bit more work, but you’ll definitely get where you need to go. You’ll also get some experience.

In short: if you don’t want to guess at the map, do the quests. And don’t forget: the buyer is waiting for you not in Tortuga, but at their secret base.

How do I complete the Glorious Hunters quest, part one?

Look for the quest on one of the islands near the starting one. I found it directly to the east, but yours may be different. The main marker: find the Abandoned Buccaneer Camp. Any abandoned building of this faction on the island is already a good sign. I recommend poking at the nearest question marks on the map to check. Extensive experience tells me: don’t miss the little things.

Abandoned buccaneer camp

A small warning: in this part, there will be boars of levels 2-3. With weapons of rank 2 and higher, don’t expect any problems. However, it’s still worth dodging when they run (this is their signature attack).

Where to find chests in the Buccaneer Camp location

You need to loot three chests until you find a Broken Musket and Marcel Boucher’s Diary. These two items trigger the quest.

Loot chest broken musket

Here are the locations:

  • Inside the building, next to the bunk beds.
  • Also there, by the hide tanning rack.
  • Outside, partially behind the wooden planks. Careful consideration is advised – some chests are easy to miss.

Where to find clues in the Buccaneer Camp (all locations)

After the chests, look for:

  • Old Rag – by the entrance.
  • Forgotten Items – inside, by the boxes near the bunk beds.
  • Dilapidated Table – immediately to the left of the entrance.

Finished? Then head to the Abandoned Buccaneer Warehouse. It’s not far – look for the next “?” on the map. Done, don’t be alarmed if you come across the Ruined Buccaneer Fort along the way – you’ll have to visit it too, but more on that later. We’ll explore the warehouse now.

Where to look for clues in the Buccaneer Warehouse walkthrough?

The warehouse isn’t the most welcoming place, but the clues are literally scattered around. You need three. You won’t have to search for new clues—everything is in plain sight.

Let’s start with the target—it’s in the center of the camp, by the pillar with the boar’s head. You can’t miss it unless you’re blind. An old tanning rack is hidden to the left of the warehouse entrance. The stacked crates are already inside. It’s a good idea to smash them, as long as your hand stays steady.

Next up are two chests. The first is hidden behind the same wall of crates (the left wall inside the warehouse). Destroy them to access the alcove. You’ll find a Supply Stash and… a button. Press it, and the opposite wall will lower. And there it is, the chest.

In the second chest (further down the storyline), you’ll find a Damaged Flask and a Page from Marcel Boucher’s Diary. With them, head straight to the map, to the next question mark. It’s right next to the warehouse; you won’t get lost.

Ruined Buccaneer Fort: How to Find the Chest and Evidence

Ruined fort skeletons

We’ve arrived. Now we need to examine the four Old Skeletons. Creepy? Yeah, it sounds a bit grim, but it’s inevitable.

One skeleton is almost directly under the one hanging from the arch (ironic). The second is at the back of the fort, near a collapsed wall. You’ll find the other two along the way, and eventually you’ll get the Tattered Hat and Marcel’s Last Letter. I got them from the fourth skeleton, but maybe you’ll get lucky sooner. A layer of information about the pirates is gradually uncovered.

But that’s not all.

Chest on the Fort Roof

The chest on the roof is a challenge with some light platforming. Climb the collapsed wall near the second skeleton (the one at the back). Once on the roof, walk to the far edge until you reach the watchtower. There’s a plank sticking out of the wall there—stand on it, then jump to the tower. It might not work the first time, but a couple of tries and you’ll be there.

Broken Fort Gate

Finally, don’t pass by the Broken Gate. It’s at the top of the fort, easily reached via the same ruined wall (where the second skeleton was). The fort is almost cleared—you can return with your trophies.

Renegade Camp: How to Hand Over Gunpowder and Hides

Once you’ve dealt with the warehouse and the fort, the map will point to a new landmark—the Renegade Buccaneer Camp. I won’t give you the exact location: the game generates everything procedurally. But I recommend preparing your ship for naval skirmishes. You might have to fire the cannons.

We’ve arrived. Look for Henri Boucher. It’s simple: enter the gate, look left—he’s hanging out in the doorway. Talk to him. Next, either continue the “Glorious Hunters” quest or seek out the Tortuga People. The choice is yours.

The Buccaneers Quest: First Quests and Walkthrough

Give Henri 50 Bags of Gunpowder

The “Buccaneers” side quest will automatically start. The first step is to give Henri 50 bags of gunpowder. Do you have it in your inventory? Great, just select the dialogue option “I solved your gunpowder problem.”

No gunpowder? No problem. There’s plenty of it at the beginning of the game: loot supply caches, old packages, and clear out pirate camps. It’s not hard to save up if you’re diligent.

Deliver Skins to Charlie Sharpe

The second step is to deliver some skins to Charlie Sharpe. This guy lives at the Tortuga People base. Good news: its location is now visible on the map. Let’s set sail. Keep in mind: the journey may take a while, depending on the random location of the renegade camp.

Tortuga People Reputation, Rewards, and Bonuses

Reputation rewards system

Tortuga People isn’t just a food stand on the edge of the map. Every deal with a Buyer and every assignment from Charlie Sharp is converted into reputation points, which methodically advance you through five ranks. The higher the rank, the greater the privileges: discounts, rare items, and exclusive Henri Boucher missions, which simply won’t appear in the menu without the required Trust level. The thresholds are fixed, and the mechanics are the same on any server.

Rank System and Progression

Rank Score Threshold Unlocked Content
Stranger 0–499 Basic Trading: Provisions (50 Piastres), Medicine (100 Piastres)
Acquaintance 500–1,499 New Charlie Sharp commissions, 5% discount at the Buyer
Ally 1,500–3,999 Unique Henri Boucher quests, 10% discount, expanded assortment
Trusted 4,000–7,999 15% discount, rare goods at the base trader
Legend 8,000+ Maximum discounts, exclusive gear, unique ship skin

How to quickly increase your reputation with the People of Tortuga

Quests versus manual sales aren’t even a competition. A single “Ally” rank mission nets 200-300 points per run. A single resource sale nets a paltry 10-15. Want to reach “Legend” through the counter? Prepare several hundred stacks of provisions and plenty of free time. Quests are the only viable option.

The optimal cycle looks like this: complete the mission → hand over the pelts to Charlie Sharp → sell the provisions to the Buyer → teleport back to base. A full cycle takes 5-7 minutes with an open fast travel point. Boars from “Glorious Hunters” are a plus here: they don’t just get in the way, they drop pelts. Combine clearing with raids on Charlie, and your reputation and piasters will grow simultaneously.

Another point that’s easy to miss. Medicines earn twice as many piastres as provisions (100 vs. 50), and they also give more points. If your inventory allows, they always have priority when selling.

Where can I find Charlie at the base?

When you reach the base, find Charlie. Go through the arch, then up the stairs (it’s immediately on the left). Along the way, you’ll meet a Buyer—you can sell Tortuga Folk items to him. Convenient. Another plus: a fast travel point will unlock upon arrival at the base. Instantly return here at any time (as long as you don’t get shot at).
