Epic Games has long taught us that there will be one “right” shotgun and one “last resort” in each season. But in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2, everything turned out differently — the developers just added four pieces. And each of them is really needed.
The final touch was the Super Shredder, a strange hybrid of a shotgun and a sniper rifle, in which the spread narrows to a point when aiming. It was he who closed the quartet: Chaos Reloader, Iron Pump, Dual Hammer and Shredder himself now co-exist in the loot pool, and none of them looks like garbage.

Chaos Reloader, Iron Pump, Super Shredder, Dual Hammer — what each one does and which is best
The main thing here is not the quantity, but the fact that each barrel changes the style of the game entirely.
Chaos Reloader is the undisputed king. One shot, up to 150 body damage, and… that’s it. Then recharge. If you miss, wait. Because of this, you definitely need something short-range next to him: only a DMR next to him will not save.
Iron Pump gives a double multiplier for a headshot — it sounds bold, but it gives out about 80 DPS on the body, which is one of the worst indicators in the entire game. For this shotgun to work, you need to move: get out, shoot in the head, go for cover. For those who like pace and precision.
Super Shredder, when shooting from the hip, scatters the shot anywhere, but when aiming it becomes almost a sniper’s weapon. It’s a great option at medium range, but it gets lost in close combat.
Dual Hammer is the most forgiving of the four. Wide spread, stable damage, works well under constant pressure on the enemy. Those who play on the controller especially appreciate it: you don’t need to hit it perfectly — just keep the fire going.

Best loadout in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2: how your shotgun defines your entire build
That’s what’s really interesting about this meta: the weapon you pick up in the first slot dictates the rest of the gear.
Did you take the Chaos Reloader? You need an aggressive short-range option nearby, otherwise one misfire and you’re dead. Are you playing with Super Shredder? It’s better to stay away and work from a distance. Dual Hammer requires constant pressure — in box fight, where the opponent flashes for a split second, he is weak.
This is the real balance: not “one weapon is better than all”, but “each weapon is better — in its own hands and in its own style”.
Against the backdrop of seasons with boring rifle tag, where everyone ran with the same load, Chapter 7 Season 2 feels like a breath of air. SMGS are relevant again, snipers are in action, and shotguns are finally different. You can change weapons between matches and get a different experience each time — this is rare for Fortnite.
There may be fewer players. But the shotgun meta is definitely the best in a few years.
