The final grand finals of the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor were upon us and either Vici Gaming or Gambit Esports would be crowned champions – claiming their spot at the upcoming DreamLeague Season 11 Major.
Gambit were looking amazing in recent times and even with a standin for the minor, they were one of the favourites to win by far. The team had only lost a single series up until this point and now had a shot at revenge as their opponent in the grand final was Vici Gaming. With Pan ‘Fade’ Yi now back, Vici were looking like an unstoppable force once again and they had Major aspirations.
In what could only be described as a verifiable stomping, Vici ripped through Gambit in the opening game of the series. The CIS squad were unable to even muster more than 3 kills in the game and it would seem that they would not get their revenge. Nothing changed moving forward in the series as Vici finished the next game in the same 25-minutes of the first. Both games to this point saw Zhang ‘Paparazi’ Chengjun pick up Phantom Assassin and remained unkillable as the Chinese squad pummeled Gambit.
Gambit were hoping to find themselves a foothold in the series – but Vici were ready for everything that was thrown at them. The Chinese squad took complete control of the map, finding constant kills and disallowing their opponents any openings – until near 25-minutes where Gambit found the perfect fight.
Gambit begun to find small windows where things seemed that they might get better – but Vici constantly slammed them shut.
Vici Gaming starved their opponents of kills and map control in the entire three games played and marched on to take a fairly easy 3-0 grand finals victory, becoming the champions of the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor and securing themselves a spot at the upcoming DreamLeague Season 11 Major which kicks off on March 14th.
