The Japanese publisher Konami decided to please the fans — on the night of February 13, right during the fresh stream of Silent Hill Transmission, the developers revealed a set of details about Townfall.

Interestingly, the first trailer actually leaked online an hour earlier than expected, showing up on State of Play. The main shock content, apparently, is a change of perspective: for the first time in the history of the franchise, we will get a full-fledged first-person survival horror. In truth, this radically changes the rules of the game, because now diving into a nightmare will become as personal as possible, except for rare cutscenes.

The plot and locations in Silent Hill Townfall by Screen Burn

The development of the project was entrusted to the Screen Burn Interactive studio — these are the very guys who gave us Stories Untold. Thus, Konami is again betting on fresh blood, pushing the usual commands aside.

  • Location change — goodbye, America, the European town of Saint Amelia awaits us.
  • Scottish Vibe — The multi-level marinas and cramped streets are inspired by the fishing villages of Britain.
  • The new protagonist, Simon, is a guy who went to a cursed place after hearing his wife’s voice from an old TV speaker.

Gameplay features and mechanics of portable TV CRTV

As for the gameplay, here we are, in principle, waiting for a complete evolution of classic mechanics. Forget about the half-screen interface — there is practically no HUD in Townfall, and you will have to guess about the state of health or ammunition from visual markers.

The main trump card in Simon’s arsenal will be a portable CRTV TV. In short, this device replaces the good old radio, allowing you not only to catch monster signals, but also literally see enemies through walls at certain frequencies. Plus, the TV will be the center of most puzzles — a pretty bold decision, you’ll agree.

Silent Hill Townfall release date and list of platforms

Apparently, it’s not too long to wait for the release — the release of Silent Hill: Townfall is planned to be organized before the end of 2026. Predictably, the list of target platforms includes PCs and PlayStation consoles. In fact, Konami is still cautious with the exact numbers, but promises to fill us in with details in the coming months. As a result, we have a reboot of the concept that can either take the series to a new level or bury it under the weight of ambition — but it’s very inspiring.
