UPDATE – xQc issued punishment:

It wasn’t the best moment for popular streamer Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel. The player has left a sour taste in the mouths of many and lost the respect of some in the community including fellow broadcasters Michael “shroud” Grzesiek and Tyler “tyler1” Steinkamp. This drama stems from an incident in the now concluded Twitch Rivals event as part of GlitchCon.

The action which has drawn so much attention came during the Fall Guys portion of the event in which xQc had already been eliminated but elected to get into the game and aid his teammates in achieving victory. xQc grabbed on to Ben “DrLupo” Lupo, a member of an opposing team in an attempt to have him eliminated.

While the maneuver didn’t work, it was still widely frowned upon given there was legitimate money on the line in the event with $11,000 going to each member of the winning team.

Upon witnessing it happen himself, Tyler1 couldn’t believe it. “Wait, he is doing it!?” he said in shock.

Shroud had some harsher words in regards to the situation and his feelings towards xQc. After stating how he’d talked positively of xQc earlier in the day, shroud claimed things had changed and not for the better. “but now he does that, and all my respect is quite literally gone.”

In regards to what could happen, if anything, to xQc due to this instance of stream sniping, shroud explained it’s kind of unprecedented. “No big partner has ever done that,” he said. “I am so shocked, because I don’t know what’s going to happen, I don’t even think Twitch knows. I don’t know if they’re going to ban him for a week, a month, three days? I have no idea.”

In the aftermath xQc has issued an apology stating that while he “thought it would be funny,” and his move didn’t impact the outcome, “it was still malicious.”
