Arc System Works and Sony Interactive Entertainment have released a new guide for the Green Goblin—and this isn’t just another video, but a full-fledged analysis of the character, who, upon release on August 6th, could become a real headache for anyone unprepared for his pace.

The Goblin is a pure zoner. His arsenal is built around the Glider, Pumpkin Bombs, Razor Bats, and his signature Goblin Surprise, each of which serves a single purpose: keeping the enemy at bay and punishing any mistakes. The Glider offers superior mobility—it allows for easy dodging, approaching from unexpected angles, and instantly transitioning into aerial combos. Pumpkin Bombs and Bats create a dense barrage of fire, and Goblin Surprise is a powerful tool that, in the right hands, can turn a fight into a dead-heat.

It’s important to understand: the Goblin isn’t about mindless aggression. Unlike Wolverine, who relies on close combat and pressure, Goblin relies on control and cunning. He sets traps, chooses his moment to dash, and disappears as quickly as he appears. Mastering him isn’t easy—Spider-Man could attest—but the reward is worth the effort.

Let’s talk about the technical side. The Steam open beta peaked at 33,233 concurrent players, slightly surpassing Street Fighter 6’s peak. But it wasn’t without its issues: PC players complained of unstable FPS, shader stuttering, and high CPU load. The developers have listened—Day One fixes have already been confirmed: reduced CPU load, frame rate improvements, improved compatibility with OBS and Discord, as well as improvements to rollback netcode and cross-play. So, the PC version should be fine at release.

The release is August 6th at 8:00 AM PDT, simultaneously worldwide (in Japan and Korea, it’s technically the 7th due to time zone differences). Platforms: PS5 and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store). Pre-ordering includes three cosmetic bonuses: Infinity Gauntlet, Baby Groot, and Cosmic Surfboard. And yes, the first DLC character has already been announced—Phoenix Cyclops, arriving in fall 2026.

If you’re looking for a character who demands composure, patience, and a willingness to learn from mistakes, Goblin is your choice. If you prefer to get into close combat, pick Wolverine and save yourself the trouble. Goblin will remain for those who enjoy controlling every second of the fight.
