Lasse ‘MATUMBAMAN’ Urpalainen moved to inactive on the Team Liquid roster just a few days ago and now, with the EPICENTER Major kicking off in just under two days, the replacement has been confirmed as Aliwi ‘w33’ Omar.
Since Matu left the Liquid roster just over a week ago, there have been a lot of rumours of who would join Team Liquid in their EPICENTER journey as well as the upcoming TI9 but most pointed toward the Romanian player who has spent much of his last few tournaments among South American teams. W33 has played with some of the best in the Dota 2 community and that being said, he is now part of a team filled with legends of the game. While having not won The International, he has placed in 2nd alongside Digital Chaos and the Liquid squad are definitely hungry for their second Aegis of Champions – meaning this could be a massive year for all involved.
In a post made by Team Liquid, w33 states that he is grateful to have been given a chance and that he is ready to prove himself. The best proving grounds are definitely EPICENTER where Liquid have been known for their domination and with the stakes so high for many teams involved, w33 will have the perfect opportunity to shine.
Liquid and w33 will have their first showing with this new roster on Saturday when they take on Gambit Esports in their first EPICENTER Major series. We are excited to see Liquid perform with this lineup and even more eager to see what Aliwi can bring into such a strong team – especially with The International 2019 just over the horizon.
