ESL One Hamburg 2018 may not be part of the new season on the Dota 2 Pro Circuit but the first Direct Invite for the event has gone out and it is none other than the winners of last year’s iteration of the event, Virtus.pro.

Coming off an admirable 5th place finish at The International 2018, Virtus.pro will be hoping to get their post-TI schedule off to a great start at this event. ESL One Hamburg 2017 was the first Major of the DPC’s inaugural season and VP’s emphatic victory set a precedent for the team going forward – as they claimed victory at another 2 Majors through the season. This year, however, with the changes to the DPC, ESL One Hamburg is not part of the Major/Minor schedule but VP will return and attempt to defend their title.
After re-branding just before TI8; changing their team colors, finding a new sponsorship deal and signing contracts which see them remaining with VP until the end of 2019, the players were probably hoping for a better ending to their TI Main Stage appearance. But, they’ll be looking to learn from their mistakes and move forward and ESL One Hamburg 2018 is a great place to begin.
ESL One Hamburg 2018 is set to take place between October 23rd and 28th, coming to us from the Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg, Germany. The event features 12 teams and a new format, giving all teams a fighting chance and giving the crowds much more Dota 2 action on the main stage.
We’ll sure more information on ESL One Hamburg 2018 will start popping up in the coming weeks, so check back for more details as the post-TI Roster Shuffle continues and the Dota 2 action kicks off again.
