Virtus.pro revealed their uniform for The International 2019 and with the t-shirt, changes comes a full visual identity rebrand for the CIS team that goes this year to Shanghai, China as one of the main favorites to claim the Aegis of Champions.
During TI9 the VP logo will trade the polar bear that defines their brand with the Chinese giant panda. The color scheme of VP’s entire apparel will be red themed to honor the representative color of the Chinese nation. As stated in the Virtus.pro’s press release, the Chinese fans have dubbed the CIS team “powerful fight” and the two words are now combined with their logo for TI9.
Player’s jerseys feature a pattern inspired by the Chinese contemporary urbanistic style and takes the shape of the letter “V”, while all the media products will include Chinese characters and ornaments.
This being the first time China hosts The International, VP have also launched their own Weibo page to stay in closer contact with their fan base in Asia. That’s where they revealed in a short video teaser the Chinese nicknames for their players, which will be displayed in Chinese characters on the TI9 t-shirts. However, Rodjer doesn’t seem to have a Chinese nick, his name being simply written in Chinese characters.

Virtus.pro General Manager had the following to say upon the new identity reveal for TI9:
“August is full of great news for us. We have launched our Weibo account and a unique visual identity for the main esports event of the year. I hope that our players will show some great Dota play at the tournament as well. China is a strategic market for us, and we’ve tried to pay respect and attention to local traditions.”
Fans can purchase the VP exclusive TI9 apparel via Fragstore or at the Mercedes Benz Arena in Shanghai, during The International playoffs days.
