The new competitive season just started and despite having way too few LAN events compared to the previous Dota Pro Circuit season, the schedule conflicts are still causing issues.
TNC Predator, who secured a ticket to the upcoming ESL One Frankfurt 2018, announced earlier today that they will give up to their spot so they can be able to attend the Philippine LAN finals qualifiers for WESG 2018-2019. TNC are the first WESG edition champions, but as the tournament is running on an Olympic format where only National roster are eligible, TNC couldn’t attend last year when they had Siva “1437” Theeban playing for them. They also focused their energy on attending as many Majors and Minors possible and the last season had a total of 22 of them. Virtus.pro, however, found the time and the energy to play with a stand-in at the in the WESG qualifiers and travel to China early this year’s spring to claim the tournament title and the $80,000 prize with it.
Despite its odd format for esports, where National teams are not exactly popular, WESG has always had the big organization’s attention given the generous prize pool. Same as previous two editions, WESG 2018-2019 has a total prize pool of 5.5 million dollars, with $1,500,000 reserved for the Dota 2 competition, the last season alone attracting 68,000 players from more than 126 countries.
TNC decided it’s important for them and for their fans to participate this year at WESG, therefore they have to withdraw from ESL One Hamburg, the first LAN event held in Europe this season.
“Many may question our decision but we want to represent the Philippines again in WESG if given the chance.” – TNC Predator
We are withdrawing from ESL One Hamburg due to schedule conflict with WESG Philippine Finals. Many may question our decision but we want to represent the Philippines again in WESG if given the chance.

ESL One Hamburg boasts a total prize of $300,000 and it’s due to start in about two weeks time, on the 23rd of October, which is a rather short notice for finding a replacement from the same region as TNC, due to the visa complication that can appear. EVOS esports, a full Indonesian team placed second in the ESL Hamburg regional qualifiers and Tigers third. ESL One has ensured the fans that a replacement for TNC will be announced soon.
