With all the teams already settled in Vancouver, Canada for The International 2018, the annual player’s meeting with the Valve staff has begun earlier today.

At the said meeting Valve announced the drawing of the TI8 group stage, which is less than 50 hours away. The 18 participants have been split into two groups of nine teams and will be playing for a shot at making it into the main event in a two-game series Round Robin format. The defending champions, Team Liquid and the TI7 runners-up, Newbee will start the battle for this year’s Aegis of Champions trophy from different groups.

Set to begin on the 15th of August at 19:00 EEST, The International 2018 group stage has matches scheduled across 4 days, until August 18. The main event will kick off at the Rogers Arena on the 20th of August.

The International 2018 Group Stage:

Group A:

 – Winstrike
 – Fnatic
 – PSG.LGD Gaming
 – Mineski
 – Evil Geniuses
 – VGJ Thunder
 – Team Liquid
 – OG
 – Invictus Gaming

Group B:

 – Vici Gaming
 – paiN Gaming
 – Team Serenity
 – OpTic Gaming
 – Virtus.pro
 – TNC Predator
 – VGJ.Storm
 – Team Secret

The top four teams in each group will advance to the Upper Bracket of the main event. The bottom team in each group will have to wave goodbye to their TI8 dream while the remaining teams will fight for their survival in the main event via lower bracket rounds. The first round in the lower bracket is, unfortunately, a brutal bo1. The rest of the upper and lower bracket series are bo3 with the grand finals taking place on the 25th of August in a bo5 format.
