Yesterday we saw Team Secret drop an unlikely game to Team Serenity before they were picked apart by VGJ.Storm too. Today things did not get much better for the squad as they seemed to be unable to really get a hold of things in Group B of The International 2018, however, their draws would keep them away from the bottom of the group – for now.
Team Secret – Drawing a Blank
After finding an admirable draw against Virtus.pro earlier today, Secret were hoping that paiN Gaming could be their chance at a series win at TI8. However, the Brazilian squad were prepared and while they too were not having the best start to the tournament, they were able to hold their own and draw the series.

This left Secret with Vici Gaming as their final opponent of the day, the team who were unable to win a single game on day one. Day two would see the Chinese squad finally find themselves and they meticulously won the first game – but game two saw a completely different VG, a team who seemed to have ZERO communication between each other and Secret would tie up another series. The tied series pulled Secret out from the pits at the bottom of Group B and they were definitely helped along by the rest of their group.
VGJ.Storm Finally Thwarted
While VGJ.Storm were unbeaten yesterday, early today would see OpTic Gaming manage to take a game off the North American squad – however, this tied series did not faze them as they went on to 2-0 paiN to hold onto their spot at the top of Group B at the end of Day 2.

Group B Standings
One team that continued to impress was definitely Team Serenity. The underdog Chinese squad were able to constantly tie games with big teams, keeping them away from the bottom of the group. While Newbee were able to dispatch the team in a 2-0 victory, I certainly do hope to see more of the core-Riki plays coming out from this squad. TNC and VP have been fairly quiet – but both the SEA squad the CIS DPC champions were keeping themselves in the top 4 – while OpTic’s victory over Newbee was the only thing keeping them in the running at the moment.

With Day 2 of the Group Stages now done and dusted, the teams can rest only until tomorrow, when Day 3 kicks off and with these now being the last 2 days of the Group event, everyone will be trying their hardest to avoid elimination in the bottom spot – while also working to claim that number one seed spot.
