Royal Never Give Up were supposed to attend the $300,000 WePlay! Tug of War: Mad Moon tournament next week in Kyiv, Ukraine. But with the Chinese qualifiers for the third Minor and Major getting delayed, the new schedule will prevent them from keeping their spot in the event.
RNG are currently playing for a spot at the ESL One Los Angeles Major. They placed first in their group and will begin the qualifiers playoffs matches today, February 16. They need just one victory to claim one of the three tickets to the Major, but even if they win today, they have a couple of other things to deal with to make sure they actually manage to travel in time to the US.
WePlay! Tug of War: Mad Moon is set to unfold February 19-23, with eight teams fighting for the title and a share of the prize pool. Unfortunately, RNG is the second team to pull out of the tournament after Na’Vi were announced to have done the same earlier this week.
While Aggressive Mode will take Na’Vi’s slot, RNG will be replaced by B8, Danil “Dendi” Ishutin’s new team.
If nothing else changes in the teams line-up, B8 and Aggressive Mode will be joined in Kyiv, Ukraine by Team Secret, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Infamous, Gambit Esports, Nigma and a yet to be announced last direct invited team. The tournament will start with the eight teams split into two GSL groups, where the bottom placed squad from each of these groups will be eliminated. The winner of each group will secure a spot in the playoffs upper bracket, while the second and third placed teams from each group will fight their way to the grand finals via lower bracket rounds.
