Following the recent attempts of Vici Gaming to fix an in-game lack of communication between the players, the team captain Pan “Fade” Yi ended up being benched during the first matches of the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor qualifiers.
On the second day of the qualifiers he was called to join the team for the rest of the competition, however, he was not really content to do just that. “As much as I understood the decision, I was still pretty pissed. So I didn’t really want to return to the team when they called me. Eventually, I chose to return because disappointing my teammates is the last thing I want to do,” he explained last week after he qualified for the Minor with VG. In the same blog post from a week back, he also said that he might not come to MDL Macau with the team and according to a few reports from the Chinese scene, Vici Gaming will play starting tomorrow with Leong “ddc” Fat-meng. There is no official announcement from the organization, however, they posted earlier today a picture of the team departing to Macau and Fade is nowhere to be seen.
If DDC is indeed going to play tomorrow, then VG is the fifth team out of the eight playing in the event to come with a slightly changed roster than the one they had when they were initially confirmed to participate. Evil Geniuses will play with Quinn “CCNC” Callahan in the mid lane, EHOME will use at least for the group stage, their coach Zhang “xiao8” Ning instead of Li “ASD” Zhiwen, RNG have recently replaced Xue “September” Zhichuan with Zhang “LaNm” Zhicheng, while PSG.LGD have given up their spot after Yang “Chalice” Shenyi suffered a post-surgery infection. So far it’s only Virtus.pro, Invictus Gaming, and Team Liquid expected to enter the battle with a full formula. The event starts tomorrow, February, 20 at 12:00 PM local time, 05:00 EET with a best-of-one Round Robin group stage.
