Vici Gaming are starting the new season with a fully packed schedule and a slightly different roster. They lost their captain Pan “Fade” Yi in the post TI9 shuffle and welcomed aboard Serenity’s former offlaner and in-game leader, Xiong “Pyw”‘ Jiahan
Despite his offlane experience, Pyw is playing support position 4 at Vici Gaming, letting Zhou “Yang” Haiyang keep his role within the team. However, Yang will not be with VG at their LAN debut in the new season, the organization announced on their Weibo page. Yang is dealing with health issues for the time being, and in his place, the team will play at the upcoming ESL One Hamburg 2019 with Lee “X1aOyU” Qian Yu from their subsidiary squad, Vici Gaming Potential.
“X1aOyU is an 18 years old up and coming Malaysian player with great potential,” says VG in their official statement, and they bring him to Hamburg to allow him to get some much needed LAN experience. He is a fierce Mars, Centaur and Nature’s Prophet player, and although the three heroes are not exactly hot meta picks right now, X1aOyU is for sure another element of surprise for those who will be facing the Chinese team.
ESL One Hamburg will unfold October 25-27 at the Barclaycard Arena from Hamburg, Germany with 12 teams fighting for the tournament title and a share of the $300,000. Vici Gaming are one of the seven teams that received a direct invite to the event and will fight for glory alongside Virtus.pro, TNC Predator, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Team Liquid beastcoast, Gambit Esports, Viking.gg, Fighting PandaS, Invictus Gaming, and Geek Fam.
From Hamburg, VG will be heading back to China for MDL Chengdu Major taking place November 16-24. On the last month of 2019, VG will travel to Singapore for the $500,000 ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational.
