EHOME’s travel schedule continues to get hectic and will force the team to play with their coach, Zhang “xiao8” Ning, standing-in at least for the first two days of the MDL Macau.
If we don’t take into consideration the TI8 showmatch versus Open AI, it’s been almost a year since Xiao8 has last time played on a tournament stage. The Chinese legend decided last spring to hang the mouse and become EHOME’s coach. His work with the young squad has just started to yield results as EHOME have continuously improved their results this season. Earlier this month they managed to qualify for the third Major of the 2018-2019 Dota Pro Circuit and would have wanted to take MDL Macau as a practice ground for the upcoming event which counts towards their qualification for TI9. Unfortunately, last week it was revealed that their carry player, Luo “eGo” Bin might not get his visa for Sweden in time.
Xiao8 posted on his Weibo page a call for help asking anyone who could give EHOME assistance in speeding up the process for visa document for an underage person, so eGo can travel with the team to the Major.
Since then, EHOME found themselves trapped by the bureaucracy paperwork once again. It was announced by the team this weekend that Li “ASD” Zhiwen will miss the MDL Macau group stage “ due to a Hong Kong and Macau Passport delivery issue.” Hopefully, his passport will arrive in time for him to play with the team in the playoffs, but until then, Xiao8 will stand in.
MDL Macau 2019 kicks off on the 20th of February with a best-of-one Round Robin group stage, where every team will play against the seven other participants. The top four squads at the end of the group stage will make it to the playoffs upper bracket, while the bottom four will start from the lower bracket.
MDL Macau participating teams:
- Evil Geniuses
- Vici Gaming
- Team Liquid
- Royal Never Give Up
