ESL One Hamburg 2019 is currently the first Dota 2 tournament to proceed The International 2019 and the long running event in Germany already has its first direct invite – Virtus.pro.
With an amazing Dota 2 Pro Circuit Season under their belt, Virtus.pro have definitely, once again, made their mark as once of the strongest teams in the game currently. With a massive 13,500 DPC points under their belt as well as a victory at The Kuala Lumpur Major late last year, VP are the first team to be invite to ESL One Hamburg 2019. The CIS squad were also the first team invited to ESL One Birmingham 2019 – but later they would withdraw from the event due to wanting to focus on the recent EPICENTER Major and TI.
ESL One Hamburg 2019 will take place at the Barclaycard Arena from October 25th-27th with the group stages played before these dates. While no other teams have been announced as yet, Virtus.pro will get a chance to defend their 2018 Hamburg Championship title in what could possibly be the first LAN event after The International for many teams. With $300,000 on the line and surely another ESL One MVP vote too, ESL One Hamburg 2019 is definitely set to be an epic event which will also feature the usual cosplay event as well as a $5000 Dota Underlords competition among other activities.
While ESL One Hamburg 2019 is still some time away, we look forward to seeing who else gets a direct invite and which teams might possibly be fighting with a TI9 trophy under their belts. We’ll bring you all the updates and information on any teams invited as well as the qualifier dates when they become available.
