CIS teams who for the majority of 2020 had to fight through online only tournaments in a merged regional format that also included the European teams are finally ready to enter the Dota Pro Circuit with a competition designed for them alone.

ESL will host the first season of Dota Pro Circuit CIS Regional League starting on the 5th of January with open qualifier rounds. For each regional league, Valve selected four teams to be spared from any qualifier/placement games and be seeded straight into the Upper Division of the first season. At the end of the long online grind, only two stacks from CIS raised above others to be worthy for a direct invite.

Live to Win, formed only at the end of October 2020 by Akbar “SoNNeikO” Butaev received one of the four invites from Valve. Team Spirit, who signed the entire Yellow Submarine roster mid-December have also been included in the Upper Division along with the two squads that proved to be the top forces of CIS Dota through 2020, Virtus.pro formerly known as VP.Prodigy  and Natus Vincere who acquired the FlyToMoon line-up.

While the closed qualifiers invites haven’t been revealed just yet, the open qualifiers for the first season are set to begin next week, on the 5th of January. Those interested to test their strength can already register their team on the ESL Play platform HERE. Keep in mind that in order to be eligible for registration, three or more of the players on the team need to reside in the area they are competing in. A total of four teams will earn a spot into the Lower Division of CIS Regional League Season 1.
