For the last four days we’ve seen some amazing action from the China Dota2 Pro Cup Season 2 as the eight teams involved fought through the group stage – but two teams stood out unbeaten up until today, Vici Gaming and PSG.LGD.
Although LGD were dominant over them through the group stage and early in the playoffs of the recent OGA Dota PIT Season 3: China event, the final was all that counted as VG were able to put on an amazing performance and claim first place. Today would be the first time the two teams matched up since with both teams having dropped only a single game so far as they both were unbeaten in a full series – up until today.
Having second picked a Lifestealer for Wang “Ame” Chunyu, LGD were in for an extremely tough match as VG absolutely outdrafted them with a team able to destroy their opponents at every turn. While there were moments where LGD found a few kills, it was nowhere near enough to stop Yang “Erica” Shaohan’s Faceless Void and Zeng “Ori” Jiaoyang’s Death Prophet as VG claimed an easy game one win. But a strange mid-lane Twin-Headed Dragon from LGD in game two would prove to be more than enough to tie up the series.
VG seemed to have zero damage as LGD ran over them with a great lineup and took the game to a decisive game three – as expected from these two teams. But, from around the half hour point, even though LGD were able to take some amazing fights, VG looked the stronger team. For the next half hour, both teams brawled back and forth and when the dust finally settled, it was Vici Gaming who came out ahead.
With that, VG were able to secure a 2-1 victory and keep themselves unbeaten in a full series for the time being at the China Dota2 Pro Cup Season 3. For LGD, the loss drops them into the second place with their next series coming up tomorrow against Team Aster.
