The CIS region had two slots available in the StarLadder ImbaTV Minor regional qualifiers and interestingly enough, Ivan “VANSKOR” Skorokhod and his recent two projects have both made it to the Minor.

In the post TI8 shuffle, Vanskor registered a new stack of his. Back then it was called Ferzee and it delivered a big surprise with the first Major qualifiers round by claiming a spot for Kuala Lumpur. Their success was quickly rewarded and the five players were signed by Gambit Esports before their arrival at the Major. They placed bottom four in Kuala Lumpur and then fell short in the Chongqing Major qualifiers. Gambit decided to replace Vanskor and brought in Artsiom “fng” Barshack to take the lead. They qualified with their new captain for the Bucharest Minor and reached the grand finals there after a super dominant performance through the entire event. However, they got defeated by EHOME who proceeded to the Major in China and finished top six there.

In the meantime, Vanskor didn’t wait for a team to sign him and instead, he created a new stack. Old but Gold featuring a few players who share Vanskor’s story to some extent. The team has Sergey “G” Bragin in the mid lane, former and more recently Empire Faith member, Ilya “Illidan” Pivcaev, in the carry position, Stanislav “633/BZZ” Glushan, also coming from Empire Faith in the offlane, Fedor “velheor” Rusikhin who made his debut with Na’vi is now Old but Gold’s position 5 support, while the fourth support is Vanskor himself.

Both Old but Gold and Gambit played last week in the DreamLeague Season 11, the Stockholm Major qualifiers and both lost the qualifier train after they got defeated by Na’Vi in the lower bracket, Old but Gold in the lower bracket semi-finals, Gambit in the finals.

But because of their top four finish in the Major qualifiers, the two received an invite straight into the Minor qualifiers semi-finals. Gambit had no issues there and took the first ticket to the Minor. Old but Gold, on the other hand, were dropped to the lower bracket and had to fight their way back. The two teams will head to Kiev next month to play for the StarLadder ImbaTV Minor title and the final ticket to the DreamLeague Major.
