Back in March 2019, Epic and Fortnite managed to pry the title of largest esports prize pool from the hands of Dota 2, but we knew it couldn’t last long as Valve and the Dota 2 scene have clearly shown exactly what we can do as we hit the $30,000,000 mark.

The International 2019’s prize pool has been breaking records on its quick journey upwards and it has only been 74 days since the Battle Pass was released. Compared to the previous two years, at this point in time, the prize pool was just peaking above $21,000,000 – but something about TI9 is driving us all wild. With another month left before the prize pool funding stops, only in our wildest dreams can we imagine just where it will climb to. And with cosmetics such as the ‘Young Invoker” that has just been released and the yet-to-be-seen Immortal Treasure III, we’re sure that the prize pool is going to continue climbing.

As a reward for reaching this prestigious amount, we should all find that we have a free 10,000 battle pass points awaiting us soon – which is essentially 10 levels to our TI9 Battle Pass. With the massive number reached in such a short space of time, it could be awesome if Valve added in some other great rewards for the community – but at this point in time, nothing has been seen.

With roughly a month to go until The International 2019 kicks off and with all 18 teams in place, Shanghai seems just about ready to be witness insanely explosive tournament for Dota 2.

Don’t forget to check out our TI9 Hub to keep yourself up-to-date with all the news and information about the upcoming tournament and maybe take a look back at some of the highlights of previous iterations of the event. We also still have our amazing competition running for the readers which you can find out more on below.
