Roster changes are constantly occurring in Dota 2 as teams attempt to find the perfect players to push them the furthest and for B8, that would see Alexandr ‘pio65’ Zalivako departing from the squad.
b8 have not been around for too long, having formed only in late January of this year, the CIS organisation is the brainchild of former victor of The International, Danil ‘Dendi’ Ishutin who is also a player within the squad. Having only played the ESL One Los Angeles Major qualifiers, WePlay! Tug of War: Mad Moon and the recent WeSave! Charity Play event, b8 have not seen much luck in their endeavors and as such, have decided to make a change shortly before their next appearance.
According to their above post on Twitter, Alexandr ‘pio65’ Zalivako has now left the roster and will be replaced by Steve ‘Excalibur’ Ye. While there seems to be no definitive reasoning for the departure, the new addition is definitely someone with a lot more experience. Excalibur has been around on the Dota 2 scene for quite some time, having played alongside Fnatic, DeToNator and most recently, Team Singularity. It will be interesting to see what Excalibur can bring to the CIS squad and if he can help them in reaching anywhere higher than their constant fifth to eighth place finishes. The full new roster of B8 is:
- Steve ‘Excalibur’ Ye
- Danil ‘Dendi’ Ishutin
- Andrey ‘Ghostik’ Kadyk
- Rinat ‘KingR’ Abdullin
- Nikola ‘LeBronDota’ Popovic
While there may not be any Majors and Minors for the time being, ESL One Los Angeles Online begins today – although the European and CIS tournament only begins next week. This event will allow teams to play online and still fight for a rather impressive prizepool for each region. The new iteration of the B8 squad will feature at this tournament as well as the WePlay! Pushka League in April 2020.
