The MDL Disneyland® Paris Major had reached its final day and the Grand Final would see a massive series between Team Secret and Team Liquid – Clement ‘Puppey’ Ivanov versus Kuro ‘Kuroky’ Salehi Takhasomi.
While they have not had a great run through the Dota 2 Pro Circuit’s 2019 season, Liquid had finally found their form once again as they made a magnificent run through the MDL Disneyland® Major. After a brilliant series against PSG.LGD last night, the team were not even too tired to quickly and easily take down Evil Geniuses in the lower bracket final – which secured them their spot in the Grand Finals against Team Secret.
Going into game one, Secret looked to put the pressure on Amer ‘Miracle’ Al-Barkawi’s Morphling right from the start, but the single kill on him that was first blood was nowhere near enough to gift them the game. Instead, Miracle’s Morphling went on to rip through his opponent’s lineup, even netting a quadruple-rampage as the game ended.
But Secret were no walk in the park and the next game saw them tying up the series at 1-1. Yeik ‘MidOne’ Nai Zheng’s Arc Warden as well as a dominant Sand King from Ludwig ‘zai’ Wåhlberg were at the forefront of the victory but a Zues and Nature’s Prophet with their global ultimate’s were also a massive part of the win.
It was another all Secret game with the next in the series as, once again, MidOne was at the forefront of their attack – this time with a Templar Assassin. While Miracle picked up the Morphling once more, Secret just did not allow him the space that he was given in the first game of the series, making sure to shut down the carry whenever possible. With a 2-1 lead, Secret went into game four with match point and they were looking to close things out.
Secret were looking unstoppable as they picked up a Sven and the Templar Assassin again. By 20-minutes, they had removed two lanes of barracks from Liquid’s base and it seemed that they would march on to an easy victory. After continued dominance for barely half an hour, Secret were champions – beating Liquid 3-1 in the Grand Finals of MDL Disneyland® Paris Major.
With this Major now completed, we only have a single Minor and Major left before The International 2019 – but there are a ton of new teams now confirmed for the prestigious culmination of our DPC year.
