China’s regional qualifier for the StarLadder ImbaTV Season 3 came to a close today with Team Aster securing the spot as the representative for the region and the final spot at the Minor.
Eight teams have now qualified to the StarLadder ImbaTV Season 3 Minor, with the final team being the Chinese seed, Team Aster. While the team were unable to reach the ESL One Los Angeles Major through qualifiers, falling short at the last hurdle, they worked their way though into the Minor via some amazing qualifier results. Even though there is a lot of drama currently surrounding the Chinese Dota 2 scene with possible match-fixing, Aster managed to avoid as much of it as possible as they made their way passed both Keen Gaming and Newbee today to reach the upcoming Minor.
While Newbee were able to take down Aster 2-1 just yesterday, Song ‘Sccc’ Chun and his squad were more than up to the challenge today as they raced passed KG the lower bracket finals, before dominating Newbee in the grand finals. With a 3-0 victory. Aster now reach their third Dota 2 Pro Circuit event of the season and will be hoping that their efforts can possibly carry them into their third Major this season – if they can win their first Minor.
We are just under two weeks away from the beginning of the next Minor in the DPC season, with the winning team making the ESL One Los Angeles Major just a few weeks after. It will be interesting to see which team can dominate the Minor this time round, considering many of the “bigger” teams have not appeared in the current events.
