They had a promising start of the season. Two of the former Ad Finem boys were finally reunited and with Maurice “KheZu” Gutmann in the captain position, Team Lithium delivered a few upsets in the first wave of Dota Pro Circuit qualifiers, including the elimination of Team Liquid from the Kuala Lumpur Major.

A series of unfortunate events for other teams saw Lithium getting an invite to the first Minor of the season, despite not qualifying for it. As soon as the team was confirmed to attend the DreamLeague Season 10 Minor, Vega Squadron signed them and from an organization that has always competed via CIS, this marked their first venture in the European region.  Unfortunately for them, the squad finished 5th-6th at the Minor, therefore lost the chance to play at the first Major of the new season. The next set of Majors and Minors qualifiers weren’t successful either.

Most recently, in the Stockholm Major qualifiers, Vega got eliminated by Team Liquid in the lower bracket finals. Going to the Minor qualifiers, they got bested out in the semifinals by OG and it seems like this most recent failure brought with it a roster change. “4th position support Apostolos “MaybeNextTime” Verros has left Vega Squadron,” posted the organization on their official website while MNT himself announced his departure from the team over Twitter:

“I wish the organization and the boys best of luck in their future endeavors! I am currently looking for a team preferably in EU but willing to relocate. DMs are open!”- MaybeNextTime

Both MNT and Vega Squadron have now about six weeks to figure out where and with whom they will fight for a spot at the next Major. The fourth Major of the season is yet to be announced, however, the qualifiers for it are scheduled to commence sometime at the end of March, after Dream League Season 11, the Stockholm Major, crowns its champions.

Vega Squadron current roster:

  •  Omar “Madara” Dabachach
  •  Dmitry “DM” Dorokhin
  •  Maurice “KheZu” Gutmann
  •  Petu “Peksu” Vaatainen
