It’s only January 2019 and the Dota Pro Circuit season is halfway through, but some teams are already in the driver seat and have secured themselves a TI9 ticket with the amount of points they secured so far. The Chongqing Major is the second of the season, and it just entered the Playoffs stage today, however for Team Secret the first Upper Bracket series victory has consolidated their presence at The International 2019.

With the 3000 points grabbed at the Kuala Lumpur Major and another 900 DPC points secured today, they are now set with a TI9 slot already.

We had the chance to talk to Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng right after Secret’s victory over Team Liquid from earlier today and we were curious to find out if the team will relax now, start to pick the events where they want to be, or if they look forward to dominate the entire season.

“There is no way we are going to relax until TI is over”, he told us adding that even the non-DPC events are extremely important as they make for good practice. “Only by training hard you become a champion,” MidOne said to us today, and besides the DPC system we discussed the current meta, if he likes it or not, if he feels like the meta is already stale although this is the first Major played on the new patch, we also asked MidOne who would he preferred to have in the semi-finals series from tomorrow, January 22.

At the end of our interview, he also has a message for a tournament organizer. “No qualifiers on the Chinese New Year!”
