Earlier today Ilya “Lil” Ilyuk talked on Instagram about what a team’s foundation should be like in order for it to last and find success.
“In a team game where everything depends on your interaction with a partner – the most important thing is Trust,” he said, adding that beyond the actual competitive part, the team members have to enjoy being around each other outside the game and for that they need to start a new project with “Faith”.
“There cannot be a single team without Faith and Trust” – Ilya “Lil” Ilyuk
Lil wants his new team to be his new family and he decided for the next season to be the one who does the first step. He analyzed the feelings he was left with from the previous season and he named his team “Odium.” Odium translates as pure hatred: that which one feels and that which one is provoked to feel, a strong taste of disgust incurred by someone as a result of their actions.
Odium’s first member is Lil himself, who looks to build a team in which he trusts and who will have faith in him and in each of the other members.
The previous Dota Pro Circuit was extremely eventful for Lil. He started the season on a winning streak under the Virtus.pro banner, an organization for which he played for nearly four years before being transferred to Natus Vincere. Lil arrived at Na’Vi in the final official shuffle pre TI8 with a bunch of DPC, however, not enough to boost his new team among the top eight in the rankings. From there on, Na’Vi’s struggles continued.
Although Lil accepted to move from position four to five, for the team’s best interest, he still got a lot of heat from the community and right after EPICENTER XL, where Na’Vi got eliminated in the group stage, he was under the spotlight once again. The rumors of Na’Vi looking to make a final change that would push them out of the contention for TI8 qualifier points turned true. With a newcomer in their lines, Na’Vi lost the battle for TI8 tickets in the CIS open qualifiers and for most of the Dota 2 fans it became clear that a bigger change has to happen for the old legendary team.
Yesterday Natus Vincere announced their new line-up for the next season, news which although expected it still touched the hearts of many as Danil “Dendi” Ishutin was not in it. In the official announcement, Na’Vi stated that they are still looking for a position 4 player, meaning that Lil has also become a free agent.
