Team Liquid are the first grand finalists at MDL Macau 2019. The TI7 Champions made today a clear statement that a hero that might seem lackluster, can also look dominant if placed in the right hands.

Sven has an abysmal losing streak in both MDL Macau and ESL One Katowice, events which unfold at the same time on two different continents. He has been picked 14 times in Katowice so far and won just one match while at MDL he’s been also picked 14 times, but only won four times. Interestingly enough, while at ESL One he was used in a utility, support role, Sven is being tested in the in core position as well at MDL Macau. Team Liquid played a support Sven in the group stages and lost the game with it but today, in the upper bracket finals opening match they gave the hero to Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barkawi. Miracle- took Sven in the offlane while Lasse “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen went mid lane with Ursa where he struggled against Kunkka. However, the carry Sven dominated EG and despite numerous attempts to kill Miracle- with good rotations from Kunkka, he didn’t concede a single kill to his enemies. Miracle rushed Sange and Yasha, which allowed him to keep the aggression going and finish the game with a 15-0-13 K/D/A. In game two he played Anti-Mage and once again he landed 13 kills without a single death, while on the other side of the river Artour “Arteezy” Babaev on Phantom Assassin found no kills.

Evil Geniuses will have a chance at bouncing back into the grand finals via the lower bracket. Sunday, February 24 they will fight for redemption against the winner of Virtus.pro versus Newbee, elimination series coming up next at MDL Macau 2019.
