The StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor had a host of series lined up for its penultimate day – mainly the Upper Bracket finals which were to be played between Alliance and Ninjas in Pyjamas.
The two teams were the most likely to reach the upper bracket finals and the Major too and after their unbeaten group stages, they quickly moved into the playoffs. While Alliance were matched up against Team Sirius, NiP were to battle the unlikely playoff participants, Team Anvorgesa. Both teams made fairly quick and easy work of their opponents before they would face off for the first spot at EPICENTER and a place in tomorrow’s grand final.
Alliance had looked amazing throughout the Minor but when it came to the opening game against NiP, they seemed completely lost. The team were unable to find any ground, constantly unable to deal with aggression of their opponent leading them to being down a game very quickly. Even though NiP looked as though they were going to take a clean sweep into the Major, Alliance upped their game and came back amazingly in game two to tie the series.
With a final and decisive game to split these teams, it was still expected that NiP would come out on top – but it was not to be. Alliance continued their march forward from their previous game and ran head-first into their opponents. NiP could not hold out and Alliance would claim their spot at the grand finals as well as book their place at the upcoming EPICENTER Major.
Ninjas in Pyjamas are not out of the running for the Major just yet but will have to fight tomorrow in the lower bracket finals – their opponent to be decided in today’s final series at the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor.
