The Level 2000 Battle Pass Blunder – Valve Responds

The Dota 2 Battle Pass is something that millions of players around the globe wait for and work on eagerly as they attempt to rack up their levels and reach level 2000 – this milestone nets the player a Miniature Roshan Figurine – except it’s not what they expected.

Dota 2 players and fans have begun to receive their baby Roshan collectible figurines from the 2017 Battle Pass, which is rewarded for them reaching level 2000 on their Battle Pass. The figurine was destined to look absolutely glorious and many people happily open their wallets to GabeN and bumped their Battle Passes up to the majestic level just for this amazing reward.

With that in mind, we’d all expect this reward to be of the highest quality but this was not the case unfortunately. Reddit was flooded with users yesterday complaining about the shocking quality of the item – and they’re not just complaining for the sake of it.

The Baby Roshan looks like something you could fish out a lucky packet or win at a carnival rather than a reward for reaching a gigantic milestone – let’s not even get into the amount of money and hours players may have put into reaching that goal. From comments on Reddit and pictures posted by Redditor ‘KitsuneKamiSama’, like the one seen above, the statue is confirmed to at least be metal – but instead of looking anything like the picture which Valve released last year, the figurine has a closed mouth and looks completely unfinished.

With the backlash from the community, Valve were quick to release a statement about the issue, vowing to make up for this with each and every player who reached the goal.

“It has come to our attention that the physical Baby Roshan reward for last year’s Battle Pass has had poor production quality yields. We apologize to our fans for that, it is well below the quality we expected. We are going to start from scratch on new production for the statue, and prioritize delivering it as soon as possible to every customer that reached level 2000 last year.”

How do you feel about this? Surely a company as big as Valve should have checked the quality of these statues before they were distributed. Hopefully the new versions will be much better and we can only imagine what this year’s Battle Pass level 2000 milestone Roshan will look like if they appease the Dota 2 community. Let us know what you think of this – are any of you building up to the level 2000 milestone or maybe you just want the level 1000 Aegis?
