OG, the MDL defending champions, dropped 0:2 to Newbee today in the Changsha Major to exit the tournament just on the 7th-8th spot.
The Europeans kicked off the series with a Spectre for Sébastien “7ckngMad” Debs and with Johan “N0tail” Sundstein in the offlane on Brewmaster while Newbee had a draft emphasizing the early skirmishes, with Slark and Doom creating a high tempo. Spectre got ganked multiple times through the laning stage and was never given the space to actually finish his Radiance.
Thirty-three minutes into the game Seb was still not having any parts of the item and he changed the queued items a couple of times. In the end, he finished the game with a Blade Mail and the Manta Style recipe while neither of his teammates had a better farm. Newbee were above 13k gold lead at the 30-minute mark and sealed the deal a few minutes later.

Game two brought new heroes on the map and was aligning an interesting matchup between Phantom Lancer and Sven. N0tail took the Sven while former coach Seb was given Ember Spirit, unfortunately without having more success than in game one. OG were able to gain the game control early through mid game stage, but once Newbee’s Phantom Lancer had his Manta Style and Diffusal Blade ready, coupled with the massive slow from Damien “kpii” Chok’s Venomancer, there was nothing Sven could do to save the team fights. Bit by bit, OG lost the entire map control and the series.
While OG are now bound to watch the rest of the MDL Changsha Major from the spectator’s seat, Newbee will advance to fight Mineski in the lower bracket rounds.
