The Beyond the Summit Summer Cup has been underway for a while now and today would be the day which the winner was decided – giving the winning team a spot in The Summit 9 event.

Let’s Do It are not a new team – being around since 2014, but without much going for them they have been fairly under the radar. But when Team Kinguin released their roster at the end of June, Let’s Do It reformed with the Polish team. The team made a fantastic showing at the BTS Summer Cup, but after a loss to Alliance in the upper bracket, they would have to do things from the lower half of the tournament. They proved to do this easily, taking down Espada and then getting their revenge on Alliance to claim their spot in the finals. The team are also called ‘New Boys’ and ‘ex-Kinguin’ right now while they are “new” to the scene.

Meeting them in the finals was Wind and Rain, the fairly new squad which featured the likes of Lee ‘FoREv’ Sang-don and Ravindu ‘ritsu’ Kodippili. The team made a magnificent showing at the recent regional qualifiers for The International 2018, losing to OG in the finals. With a chance to get a great start to the pre-season and being the outright favourites to win, they would want the spot at The Summit 9 to belong to them.

One of the most interesting things to take away from these series was the prevalence of Crystal Maiden with the hero making constant appearances and farming extremely well too in the position 3 role. While the hero would see mainly losses in the grand final, it was picked in all but 1 game of the series. The finals themselves were hard-fought with WaR losing the first 2 games before coming back to tie up the series and take it to a game 5.

In the end it was LDI who were able to close out the series and claim the final game, take a 3-2 victory and earn their spot at The Summit 9.
