After their win at the GESC Indonesia Dota 2 Minor, Evil Geniuses have received a championship invite to the Dota 2 Pro Circuit’s final Minor of the season, GESC Thailand.

Evil Geniuses earned themselves some much needed DPC points a few weeks ago as they claimed victory in Jakarta, Indonesia at GESC’s Indonesian Minor. With that victory under their belt the North American squad have no secured themselves a direct invite to the season’s final Minor to be held in Bangkok early next month. EG confirmed what is deemed the “Championship Invite” yesterday and join Team Secret on the list of direct invites to the event. The event will be a great way for EG to earn some much needed DPC points as they sit outside the top 8 of the standings after LGD and MIneski were able to push their way past the North Americans at the recently concluded DAC 2018 Major.

The GESC: Thailand Dota 2 Minor takes place from May 9th to 12th and features 9 teams competing for their share of the spoils, which include $300,000 and a share of 300 DPC points. While Team Secret received a direct invite and EG snatched the Championship Invite, the remaining teams would be decided through regional qualifiers. The regional qualifiers take place throughout the month of April, with 3 of these already being decided, leaving 4 spots open. The teams currently confirmed for the Minor are:

  • Team Secret (direct invite)
  • Evil Geniuses (championship invite)
  • VGJ.Storm (North American qualifier)
  • SG e-sports (South American qualifier)
  • Vega Squadron (CIS qualifier)
  • TBD (Southeast Asia qualifier)
  • TBD (China qualifier)
  • TBD (Europe qualifier)
  • TBD (Thailand qualifier)

With the inaugural season of Dota 2’s pro circuit quickly drawing to a close and The International looming on the horizon, GESC: Thailand is assured to be a hyped Minor, even in the midst of all the Major action surrounding it.
