Legendary esports organization Virtus.pro is leaving their Polish roots in the Counter-Strike scene it seems. According to a report from Dexerto, Virtus.pro has been contacting “multiple professional players from different countries” at the StarLadder Major in Berlin.
The team has been fielding a Polish lineup for years and for a long time boasted one of the top teams in the world in the Golden Five before the team began a slump it couldn’t return from in late 2017 into 2018. It officially began to fall apart upon departure of Wiktor “TaZ” Wojtas. Filip “NEO” Kubski, Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski, Paweł “byali” Bieliński, and Jarosław “pashaBiceps” Jarząbkowski all left and returned at some point and as of today only Snax remains.
The organization still fields a Polish lineup currently but are keeping their options open as they look to rebuild a dominant team in the space.
Several players are already on the market including Marcelo “coldzera” David who has been rumored to be in talks with FaZe in order to join Nikola “NiKo” Kovac. With the Major at the halfway point, it’s also possible several other players will be making themselves or being made available in the coming weeks.
The Virtus.pro lineup currently consists of players who have been bouncing around the top of the Polish scene for years with stints in VP, AGO, and others. Some of them may be looking for a yet another new home shortly should Virtus.pro be able to grab some higher caliber players.
