When North was founded with the FC Copenhagen football club in 2017, their ambition was to become a leading multigaming organization in Europe. To do that, they signed a rising Danish team, the former Dignitas led by Mathias “MSL” Lauridsen. The goal was announced: to win the biggest tournaments by 2018.

A year and a half after their arrival, it is clear that the project is not at this level yet, with the team having won only three events. Three DreamHack Opens: Montreal in 2017, Tours and Valencia in 2018. In addition, the then star players Emil “Magisk” Reif, Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke and René “Cajunb” Borg have since all left the ship, kicked and sold to OpTic Gaming one after the other.

North is clearly not in top form today and Markus “Kjaerbye” Kjærbye’s teammates recently benched young sniper Daniel “mertz” Mertz and played DH Valencia with Oscar “mixwell” Cañellas as a stand-in. With the registration deadline for the Major approaching quickly, it seems the team may have finally found its fifth player.

According to new information, North and Heroic are currently in discussions for an exchange between Daniel “mertz” Mertz and Nikolaj “niko” Kristensen. Niko would join North and Mertz would look to join Heroic and find a starting place on a good Danish team. At the moment, we cannot tell you that these are straight transfers but some sources told us that players could be loaned in a process that could benefit both organizations.

If negotiations go as planned, North could look like :

Mathias “MSL” Lauridsen
Philip “aizy” Aistrup
Valdemar  “valde” Bjørn Vangså
Markus “Kjaerbye” Kjærbye
Nikolaj “niko” Kristensen
Alexander “ave” Holdt (coach)

And Heroic would be :

Adam “friberg” Friberg
Andreas “MODDII” Fridh
Patrick “es3tag” Hansen
Asger “AcilioN” Larsen
Daniel “mertz” Mertz
