No matches’s Counter Strike: Global Offensive roster will take an indefinite competitive break, the organization announced Thursday. The decision comes following months-long periods of underperforming, culminating in failure to qualify for Season 9 of ESL Pro League.

“After London Major we were quite optimistic about the potential of the current lineup,” writes VP General Manager Roman Dvoryankin. “Unfortunately, our expectations were not met. The long term strategy for us is to build a competitive team around young players and we will follow it while making decisions. I’d like to ask our fans to be supportive in the next couple of weeks.”

It has been more than a year since made any respectable finish at a CS:GO LAN event. The “bears'” last peak was placing top 4 at the 2017 PGL Major Krakow and second at EPICENTER 2017, but it’s been downhill for the squad since. VP finished at the bottom of the tables in both Majors this year (15-16th in Boston and 23-24th in London) and failed a lot of the various LAN qualifiers as well. made various roster changes throughout the year in attempt to regain their former strength, but to no avail. In February, Wiktor “TaZ” Wojtas was benched and subsequently transferred to Team Kinguin. In June, another one of the VP core, Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski, departed, followed by Paweł “byali” Bieliński in September. will have to make some tough decisions moving on if they don’t want to completely disappear in 2019. The team not only failed to qualify for any reputable LAN event in 2018, but has started to lose its online presence too. VP lost in the ESL Pro League S8 relegations, only winning a single map in three series and will not return for Season 9. Their participation in the other major online league, ECS, was also a failure, ending with a 9th place finish and demotion to the Season 7 relegations. will announce the next steps by the end of the year as so far. There’s been no indication which of the players on its last roster will continue with VP, but a ground-up rebuilding is certainly not out of the question, and perhaps even the best move.
