G2 as we know it is coming to an end according to a report out of 1pv.fr. The French esports site has released information stating that Richard “shox” Papillon and Lucas “Lucky” Chastang will be departing the organizations Counter-Strike team.
While the latter isn’t quite as surprising given G2’s narrow miss of the Legends status at the StarLadder CS:GO Major in Berlin paired up with his string of bad performances, the former isn’t quite as expected. Over the last six months, Lucky has failed to make it to an HLTV rating of 1.
shox has been with G2 for over three and a half years and was one of the pioneering members of the French lineup. The star player may be seeking new opportunities as several big changes are expected to take place following the conclusion of the Major in just a few days.
This news coincides with the news that Carlos “ocelote” Rodríguez, G2’s CEO, had been in contact with several members of the CR4ZY lineup. Nemanja “nexa” Isaković and Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač are the apparent targets for G2 as they look to find players to join Kenny “kennyS” Schrub, Audric “JACKZ” Jug and François “AmaNEk” Delaunay. Whether or not the two organizations can reach an agreement is whole different question.
